Publish to Google Play, step by step

From AAB to a live listing.

Updated October 1, 2026 · 1 min read

Before you start

  • Google Play developer account with identity verification done.
  • Your AAB and keystore from ApkZio.
  • A privacy policy URL on your site.
  • 512×512 icon, 1024×500 feature graphic and at least two phone screenshots.

1. Create the app

Play Console → Create app. Enter the name, default language, app/game, free/paid, and accept the declarations.

2. Set up the listing

Complete every item in the Dashboard checklist: store listing, content rating, target audience, data safety, ads, privacy policy, and app access (add test credentials if your site needs login).

3. Upload the bundle

Testing → Internal testing → Create release. Upload app-release.aab, accept Play App Signing, add release notes, and roll out to internal testers to verify the install from Play.

4. Go to production

Promote the release to Production (or create a new one). Submit for review. New accounts often wait a few days; updates are usually faster.

5. Updates

Rebuild in ApkZio (version code increases automatically), upload the new AAB as a new release. Content changes on your website need no new release.

If Play asks questions

Common flags for web-based apps are “minimum functionality” and “webview spam”. Describe the native features you enabled (push, offline, deep links) in the listing, and make sure the app offers something a browser bookmark does not.
